Humane Education

Using material and the curriculum purchased from The Humane Education Trust (South Africa) we are establishing a basic humane education curriculum in schools in the disadvantaged areas that we work in.

We are also working with the teachers in 14 preschools in the Botshabelo area, reaching approximately 500 children. When these teachers conduct household visits they also supply us with valuable information on any animals in these households too.

Humane Education of children creates empathy for others, fosters a respect for all life and creates a culture of caring and non violence.

We host an annual parade “Animals Matter to Ladybrand” in alliance with Animals Matter to Africa, aiming to raise awareness and the practice of animal welfare across the continent.

Throughout the year we also run children’s colouring competitions at schools/ local newspapers with the themes being animal rights/ welfare issues.
